If your Vuma Reach connection feels slower than expected, there are a few simple checks you can perform before contacting Support.
Check Your WiFi Signal
Your Vuma Reach Fibre Box broadcasts WiFi on the 2.4 GHz band. While this provides good coverage, it's more susceptible to interference than 5 GHz WiFi.
For the best performance:
- Ensure installation of the Fibre Box is in an open, central location.
- Away from cupboards and other large obstacles.
- Avoid installing it near microwaves, cordless phones and other devices that use the 2.4 GHz frequency.
- Stay as close to the Fibre Box as possible when testing your connection.
Check How Many Devices Are Connected
Your Vuma Reach Fibre Box supports up to 10 connected devices.
If several devices are streaming, downloading or gaming at the same time, everyone on the network may experience slower speeds.
Disconnect any devices you're not using and test your connection again.
Run a Wired Speed Test
If your device has an Ethernet port, connect it directly to the Fibre Box using a network cable.
Run a speed test while connected by cable.
- If the wired speed is close to your package speed, your Fibre connection is working correctly and the issue is likely related to WiFi.
- If the wired speed is also slow, continue with the steps below.
Restart Your Fibre Box
A simple restart can often resolve temporary performance issues.
- Unplug the Fibre Box from the power outlet.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in.
- Wait 2 to 3 minutes for it to reconnect.
- Run another speed test.
Check for a Network Outage
A network outage in your area can affect your connection speeds.
Visit the Mweb Network Status page to check whether there are any known outages affecting your service.
Still Experiencing Slow Speeds?
If you've completed the checks above and your connection is still slow, contact our Support Team.
To help us investigate more quickly, please have the following ready:
- A recent speed test result (preferably from a wired connection).
- The time the problem occurred.
- A brief description of the issue.
